Safe, healthy, energy-efficient homes & buildings.

Due to systemic factors, houses and community buildings in First Nations communities often need extensive repairs or replacement. Upgrading community housing and infrastructure has many obvious benefits:

  • Safer, healthier and more comfortable homes
  • Smaller energy bills (electricity, propane) and/or less firewood required for the winter
  • Smaller, more affordable renewable energy system.

We help source the funding necessary to perform required upgrades (in collaboration with Community Power). Generally we advise to implement housing upgrades before designing a renewable system. However, in some situations the cashflows or savings from energy sales can help finance housing upgrades and we support you in making the best of your community’s circumstances.
